Castlebar, Co. Mayo

Some of the Mellett family relocated from Hollymount to Castlebar.  The youngest of the Mellett family, John, moved to Castlebar (1898-1970).  Often times he was called Jack.  Then Jack John on a number of occasions.  So getting things organized in my head and for my notes was often a challenge.

He married Annie Mary Chambers and they had four children.  I had the great pleasure to meet his grandson (would that be my 2nd cousin) his wife and their small children.  Thanks to Delia that visit was one of the highlights of our 2007 trip. 

John's son Joseph (Joe to those that knew him well) (1928-2004) was in the insurance business in Castlebar.  When we visited Castlebar 100 years after this photo, we could not even recognize the main street.  Everything is on a fast pace and just like any 21st Century city, folks always on the move.
