Memories with Delia

The summer of 2007 was a trip of a life time. Westport was a must and the time I spent with Delia will be as clear today as it was in 2007. My husband Wayne was the driver and with Delia directing the adventures from the front passenger seat and me in the back seat we traveled from city to city. Delia filled us in with all the stories of times past. We visited the tourist's sites as well as those close to our hears, the cemetery where my great grandmother and extended family are buried. We went by the vacant "old home stead". There the long unattended grass on that misty rainy day brought tears to our eyes and hearts as Delia spoke of lighter and happier times of the past.
We went out to eat at the local restaurants where eveyone knew Delia. How proud she was to introduce her cousin from America. How proud we were of her. The Irish acent was sure to test the ear of any foreigner. However, in no time at all you seemed to take it in as easily as the beauty of the country side and the friendship of family, friends and strangers that treated you as one of their own.
Delia, heaven is one star brighter now. Delia we miss you.
